How does the body convert food into ATP?
I would like to know step by step how food breaks down food in the stomach energy in the muscles. I know it has something to do with glycerol and glycogen and something like that and turn left liver fat or extensions something. I just need everything explained. Thank you very much
"Food" is a general term, but for glucose, which is the main energy source of our body, so it's going in a few words .. Glucose comes in many forms. As a monosaccharide (a carbohydrate) and a polysaccharide (carbohydrate). One most common ways of glucose we eat is polysaccharies as amylose and amylopectin. Amylose are found in potatoes and is less digestible and amylopectin found in rice and is more digestible because of the link between glucose molcues. A molecule of amylopectin can contain up to thousands of glucose molecules. Alpha-amylase enzyme is saliva in the mouth that breaks the bonds at random between some of the glucose molecules that compose the amylopectin. Then these polysaccharide chains long journey through the stomach where they decompose and in the small intestine where amylase enzymes that break down other molecules of glucose alone. These molecules of glucose only then absorbed in the gut wall into the bloodstream through secondary active transport (which means they require one of the molecules of sodium charged for transportation). Once they enter the blood are either used as energy through glycolysis, Krebs cycle, and then the electron transport chain or taken to the liver and stored as glycogen (another polysaccharide which branches like a tree). A molecule of glucose 6 carbon molecule is broken down into three carbon pyruvate through of glycolysis. Below is attached to CoA reductase inhibitor or (pantothenic acid) to acetyl-CoA. Acetyl CoA can be done in glycerol in adipose tissue (adipocytes) and then stored as triglycerides … Or go to the Krebs cycle to produce NADH and FADH in the process. NADH and FADH are vitamins B that donate electrons to the inner wall complex mitochondrial hand them out to other complex and finally to the molecule of ATP synthase generates ATP pumps.
